Volleyball Adds Venera Kadriu and Macy Lintz To Recruiting Class

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University volleyball program has announced the signing of a pair of student-athletes to National Letters of Intent.

Venera Kadriu and Macy Lintz will be with the program starting in the 2018 season. The duo joins mid-year transfer Stephaney Fifield as well as early signees Grace Rekeweg and Al'Lesha Roberts as the complete recruiting class for head coach Dave Shumaker.

Venera Kadriu

Venera Kadriu hails from Gjilan, Kosovo where she plays for the Kv Drita Volleyball Club.  As an Outside and Opposite Hitter, Venera helped her club win three straight Kosovar Club National Championships.   She also spent a significant time representing her home country in international competition.  As a member of the Kosovar U18 and U19 National Teams, Venera gained valuable experience playing in the European Champions League.  There, she garnered numerous "Best Attacker," "Best Passer," and "Match MVP" awards during international play. 

Intended Major:  Finance

Why Venera Chose Northwood University:  "It has always been my dream to play volleyball in the U.S.  I chose Northwood University because of reputation of its academic programs--and because of its volleyball team."

"Our coaching staff got to know Venera very well during the recruiting process.  She is great competitor with a high level of volleyball intelligence and international experience.   We are excited about the competitive drive and passion that Venera will bring to Northwood." 


Macy Lintz

Macy Lintz hails from Columbiaville, Michigan where she attended Davison High School.  She was a two- year varsity starter at the setter position.  Macy earned All-Region Second Team honors her junior year as well as All-Region First Team honors as a senior.  A multi-sport athlete, she qualified for both States and Nationals as a 400M sprinter on her track team.  Macy played three years of club volleyball with the Legacy Volleyball Club.

Academically, Macy excelled at Davison High School.  She was twice named to the MHSAA Academic All-State Team. 

Intended Major:  Business Management

Why Macy Chose Northwood University:   "I felt an instant connection with the campus, coaches and players at Northwood.  When God opened up the opportunity for me to play here, I couldn't turn it down."

"Macy has all the makings of a great collegiate setter.  She is an exceptional athlete; she is a seasoned setter; and she brings a feistiness necessary to help her team win.  We are excited to see how quickly she will acclimate to Division II volleyball."
