Volleyball Falls In Four Sets To Walsh

INSIDE THE MATCH

• Walsh was the better team early on, scoring seven of the first 10 points of the day. It appeared the Cavaliers were on their way to an easy set win, leading 19-10 when the Timberwolves made a big run. Northwood posted nine of the next 10 points to get within one at 20-19. NU tied the score at 23-23 but were unable to earn a set point. The Cavaliers took the opening set 27-25 to earn a 1-0 lead.
• Northwood responded with a strong performance in set two. NU scored eight of the first 10 points and held the lead the rest of the way. The Timberwolves led by as many as eight before taking the set 25-18 to make it 1-1 overall.
• The Timberwolves kept the momentum going into the third set, leading 6-3 after nine points.  With Northwood leading 7-4, Walsh scored 14 of the next 19 points to go up 18-12. NU responded with a run of their own, eventually tying the score at 21-21. Much like the Northwood comeback in the opening set, NU was unable to take the lead. Walsh scored three of the final four points to take the set 25-23 for a 2-1 lead.
• With the fourth set tied 9-9, the Timberwolves scored six of the next seven points to take a 15-10 lead. NU led 17-13 when the Cavaliers made the final push to close out the victory. Walsh went on a 10-2 run to go up 23-19. WU went on to take the fourth 25-20 and the match 3-1.
