Cross Country Competes At Conference Championships - Men Take Fifth While Women Take Eighth

OVERVIEW – G-MAC CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

LOCATION: HAYDEN PARK – HILLSDALE, MICH.

RECAP: Northwood men's and women's cross country competed in the 2024 G-MAC Championship on Saturday (October 26). Northwood's men took fifth with 120 points, while the women took eighth with 215 points.

INSIDE THE MEN'S RACE (8,000 METERS)

• Northwood men's cross country placed fifth out of the 11 conference teams competing, with 120 points.
• Hillsdale took home the conference title for the men with 50 points. Findlay took runner-up honors with 60, while Walsh placed third with 68.
• Preston Earl (25:23.9), Sam Smith (25:36.5), and Carson Laney (25:37.3) led the Timberwolves, taking 13^th, 17^th, and 19^th overall. The trio of athletes took home Second-Team All-Conference honors with their finishes. The G-MAC had 156 racers competing in the event.
• Northwood's top-five racers had a team time of 2:09.01 with an average time of 25:49 for a gap of 1:03.

INSIDE THE WOMEN'S RACE (6,000 METERS)

• Northwood women's cross country placed eighth overall with 215 points. They were eighth out of the 12 conference teams.
• Walsh took the team crown on the women's side with 50 points, followed by Cedarville in second with 52 and Hillsdale in third with 85.
• Rachael Sierakowski led the Timberwolves, placing 39^th overall, finishing in 23:26.
• Northwood's top-five runners totaled a 1:59.29 race with an average time of 23:54 and a top-five split of 1:28.
