NORTHWOOD UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS

ATHLETIC MARKETING & SPONSORSHIP

 

 ROLES

The internship position will gain experience in marketing and promoting Northwood University’s NCAA Division II 18-sport athletics program to the campus and surrounding community. In addition, the intern will shadow members of the marketing and communications staff and collaborate to help create athletic marketing materials. The intern will assist in sponsorship acquisition and activation.

This is an opportunity to gain exposure to the facets of collegiate athletics through hands-on experience in marketing and sponsorship, in addition to working on projects from initiation through execution in the fall semester. This is an unpaid position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop promotional plans for events/activities to be implemented at Northwood University sporting events
  • Promote activities throughout the Northwood and Midland communities
  • Draft content for communication on the website, traditional, and social media platforms
  • Establish and maintain up-to-date content regarding promotional initiatives on the athletic website
  • Assist in the creation and fulfillment of sponsorship packages
  • Implement and execute sponsored elements of promotional plans
  • Research and implement ways to engage students at sporting events and to increase attendance

LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP

Internship lengths may vary from one semester to the entire school year in August and may run through May.

DESIRED HOURS

The internship will be 400 hours with 10-15 hours per week.

NORTHWOOD UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS

GAMEDAY AND FACILITY OPERATIONS

 

 ROLES

The internship position will provide experience in facilities and gameday operations within Northwood University’s NCAA Division II 18-sport athletics program. In addition, the intern will shadow members of the facilities and game day operations staff and help create and maintain a great environment surrounding athletic events.  The intern will aid and assist members of the athletic department in gameday setup and teardown, as well as perform in-game promotional duties.

This is an opportunity to gain exposure to the facets of collegiate athletics through hands-on experience in marketing and sponsorship, and working on projects from initiation through execution in the fall semester. This is an unpaid position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Aid and assist the director of facilities operations in gameday services such as tear down and set up.
  • Promote activities throughout the Northwood and Midland communities
  • Aide in the production of gameday promotional needs, such as giveaways
  • Interns will learn how to run statistics equipment like replay and scoreboard
  • Ensure all facilities are kept up to par and establish a well-put-together gameday environment
  • Preparing for on/off the field or court ceremonies, intermission activities, game day giveaways, contestant signup, and registration, and providing exceptional guest services for fans.
  • Game Day Operations Internship participants will have the opportunity to develop as a professional by assisting with day-to-day marketing and promotional tasks on non-game days

NORTHWOOD UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS

SOCIAL MEDIA AND VIDEO PRODUCTION 

 

 ROLES

The internship position will gain experience in facilities and gameday operations within Northwood University’s NCAA Division II 18-sport athletics program. Northwood University is seeking students to facilitate gameday social media and video production crew during the 2022-23 school year.

This is an opportunity to gain exposure to the facets of collegiate athletics through hands-on experience in social media, brand management, and video production. In addition, interns will work on projects from initiation through execution in the fall and or spring semesters. This is an unpaid position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Interns will be expected to create and complete all gameday social media posts. This will include in-game posts and branded content.
  • Interns will understand and comprehend photo and video editing and will create social media content. 
  • The intern will work with the Athletic Department on related initiatives on game day and promote activities throughout the Northwood and Midland communities
  • Interns will occasionally interact with players and coaches, so professionalism is of the utmost importance. Business attire when attending home games.
  • Operating cameras during home games, training on and operating instant replay software and production equipment, and handling video equipment for the nightly broadcasts of all Northwood home games, with the potential for playoffs.
  • There is the potential for day-to-day office hours and editing opportunities.
