RECAP: Northwood baseball opens the Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament with an 11-2 loss to Findlay Wednesday afternoon (May 6).

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Northwood had a great chance to get on the board first in the top of the third inning, having runners on second and third with one out. But a pair of lineouts ended the inning for the Timberwolves without a run.
  • In the bottom of the third, Findlay had one runner on with two outs when the Oilers connected on a two-run home run to go up 2-0.
  • NU responded right away in the top of the fourth, starting with an RBI safety squeeze from Anthony Manganello.
  • Ben DeVries followed with a sacrifice fly to tie the score 2-2.
  • It was all Findlay from that point on, as the Oilers scored three in the fourth, one in the fifth and five more in the seventh to take an 11-2 lead.
  • The Timberwolves made some good swings that were not rewarded in the game, as Northwood lined out a total of eight times in the contest.
