INSIDE THE MATCH

  • Northwood entered the match today as the No. 6 seed in the Midwest Region, while Ferris State was the No. 2 seed.
  • Much like the day before against Wayne State, the doubles point for Northwood came down to a tiebreaker. FSU took the No. 1 match, while NU won the No. 3 match. Unlike the match against WSU, Northwood dropped the No. 2 contest in a tiebreaker, giving Ferris State a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
  • The Bulldogs earned a win at the No. 1 singles match to go up 2-0.
  • NU earned their first point of the day thanks to a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles from Marc Ferrando.
  • The key stretch of the match came with the No. 2 and No. 4 contest going to tiebreakers around the same time. If Northwood took both tiebreakers, the overall match would have been tied 2-2 with three matches remaining.
  • FSU won both matches, however, to earn a three-set win at the No. 4 position and a two-set victory at the No. 2 position.
  • That gave the Bulldogs the overall match 4-1.
