UMBC NOTES

2023 Outdoor

• Set a personal record with a mark of 15:16.18 in the 5K race at the America East Championships 
• Also UMBC’s top finisher in the 10000 meters, finishing ninth (31:59.77) and breaking 32 minutes 

2022

• Selected as the team’s Unsung Hero at the annual Gritty Awards
• UMBC’s No. 5 scorer at the Paul Short Invitational and elevated his effort to the Retrievers’ No. 3 score at the Penn State National Open
• The Retrievers No. 2 finisher at the America East Championships and placed 21st overall  

High School/ Personal

• Won a Montgomery County indoor title in the 2-mile while at Northwood HS
• Earned Honorable Mention accolades with a 24th place finish at the 2019 Regional Championships while at Iowa Central Community College    
• Earned Dean’s List honors at Montgomery (Md.) College in 2020
• Has five brothers and one sister
• Son of Anatole Basesa and Muzuri Charlotte
