RECAP: Northwood women's soccer hosted No. 3 Ashland Wednesday (November 6) in their regular-season finale. The Eagles jumped out to a 3-1 first-half lead and didn't look back. They held for the 4-1 win.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • It was a back-and-forth opening few minutes before the Eagles scored the first goal of the match behind a set piece from the far corner, a header to the player on the left post gave AU the 1-0 lead in the 17'
  • In the 24', a misplayed ball by two Northwood defenders gave the Eagles another score as she slipped between two defenders near the right post to score on the opposite side, 2-0 AU.
  • The Eagles' offense continued to be aggressive. In the 28', the scrum in the box led to a deflected ball that resulted in an accidental handball that gave the Eagles a penalty opportunity. They would score it to go up 3-0.
  • Down 3-0 with mere seconds remaining, Carly Boyd's free kick from near midfield bounced around in front of the goal. Reagan Brengman's pass to Ashtyn Lange gave its first and only score of the match with one second on the clock, 3-1 AU.
  • Out of the break, Ashland would score the final goal of the match in the 61' via a scrum on the goal line, 4-1.
  • Northwood could not muster any scoring versus the stingy Ashland defense the rest of the way, falling 4-1.
