Volleyball Earns Pair of 3-0 Sweeps At Davenport

RECAP: Northwood Volleyball earns a pair of sweeps at Davenport Friday (September 13), downing host Davenport and Glenville State each 3-0.
- With Northwood leading 6-5 in the opening set, the Timberwolves took control. Northwood scored 10 straight and 13 of the next 14 points to open a 19-6 lead. Even with a 4-0 run from Davenport late, NU took the first set 25-11 for a 1-0 advantage.
- The Timberwolves kept the momentum going early in the second, taking an 8-4 lead. DU cut the lead down to two at 9-7, only to see Northwood go on a 9-1 run to go up 18-8. NU eventually took the set 25-14 for a 2-0 lead in the match.
- Set three was much more competitive and featured runs for both teams. With the Panthers leading 7-6, Northwood scored six straight to go up 12-7. Davenport responded with seven of the next nine points to tie the score 14-14. The two teams remained within three points of each other the remainder of the way. The score was tied 23-23 when Northwood earned the final two points to win the set 25-23 and the match 3-0.

- While much of the opening set was close, the Timberwolves took the lead for good at 3-2. Northwood led 13-12 when NU posted nine of the next 10 points to take a 22-13 lead. The Timberwolves won the set 25-17 for a 1-0 advantage.
- Northwood took control early in the second set and did not look back. The Timberwolves scored nine of the first 10 points for an eight-point lead. NU led by scores of 14-3, 16-4 and 21-5 before closing things out at 25-6 to go up 2-0 in the match.
- Set three was tied 3-3 when Northwood scored four straight points to take a 7-3 lead. Glenville State got back within two at 7-5, but the Timberwolves came right back with seven straight points to go up 14-5. Northwood led by at least four the rest of the way and finished the sweep with a 25-15 third-set victory.
